CAMELMAN is an exquisite range of clothing designed for Lovers of the Great Australian Outback. Each and every garment is superbly styled, made to be practicable, to last, but most importantly look great!
Jayne Maes, creator of the range, has spent many years dreaming & creating whilst working with her beloved camels in the vast Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Making clothes has always been a passion for Jayne Maes. Jayne began her career at the age of two sitting on her mothers knee. For most of her adult life, Jayne has lived in the bush, and sewing has always been a normal part of her daily life.
A full range of kids and adult clothes, swags and accessories for dogs and outback gear, especially coats & shirts through to fine formal wear. Jayne has done it all and for many years without patterns!
In 1986, Jayne packed the kids into the car and headed for a fair in Northam, a rural community about 100km north east of Perth Western Australia.
As Jayne says, I went to a show once and rode a camel; I liked it and ended up at a camel farm. A few hours later I was the proud owner of a Camel! Jake a 1 year old bull, became her special friend and has been her faithful partner on many solo treks and tours through the outback for more than 20 years. MORE IMPORTANTLY JAKE WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE BIRTH OF “CAMELMAN CLOTHING”.
A move to the Pilbara in 1998, introduced Jayne to the harsh reality of station life. This was the perfect setting for Jayne to hone her special skills and she soon became an integral part of the Newman Business Community for which she has been widely recognised in numerous awards and events.
Her love of the outback and steely determination coupled with a natural flair for business saw her launch the official Camelman Brand.
Each and every garment is superbly styled and exquisitely finished with unique camel studs™. 90% of the fabric is Australian made, as is the greater of the garment manufacture.
Wearing one of these superb garments is a special experience. Foreign dignitaries, Business people, Mining workers, Diplomats and Travellers from around the world have all enjoyed the “Camelman” experience.
“NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, ISN'T IT”
Cameron Simpkins, CEO for the Pilbara Area Consultative Group, said when he purchased a coat for his wife: “A fantastic garment that has done your workmanship proud!” |
